New York Artist Membership

In 1972, twenty women artists founded A.I.R. Gallery, the longest-running alternative space for women artists in the United States. New York Artist Members benefit from a supportive community that encourages creative risk-taking and resource sharing and provides the opportunity to contribute to the organization’s mission and programming. The New York Artist Members serve as A.I.R. Gallery's Board of Directors and sustain the organization through regular volunteer work on board committees and financial support in the form of membership dues.
Each New York Artist Member presents a solo exhibition every 2½ – 3 years, maintains an artist page on A.I.R.'s website, and benefits from a membership network of care and support. Members attend monthly board and committee meetings, donating at least 10 hours of their time to the organization each month. Financial responsibilities include a one-time $500 initiation fee and $240 monthly membership dues. A.I.R. does not place any restrictions on an artist’s affiliation with commercial galleries or other nonprofit organizations.
